Karen Shalev has a wide range of experience in designing, planning and delivering a variety of teaching modules at all academic levels with a specific focus on missing persons. She also delivers various national and international face to face and online workshops and exercises for professionals working in law enforcement, the public sector and non government agencies.

She regularly presents in front of hundereds of people in various settings ranging from formal lectures and conferences to interactive awaydays designed to encourage informed thinking and open debate and discussion. She offers bespoke training packages to professionals interested in improving services to missing persons and their families.

Supervision

Professional Doctorate in Criminal Justice
The Professional Doctorate in Criminal Justice is a structured 4-year programme. The first two years are focused on workshop-based teaching in Portsmouth, while the latter two years are focused on supervised research, leading to a thesis.

PhD in Criminology
The Doctorate degree is a 3-year programme. Prospective students are welcome to bring their own research idea or discuss possible ideas with their preferred supervisor.

PhD by publications
A PhD by publication is a 12-months postgraduate research degree that’s based on research students have already undertaken and had published (excluding self-publishing) before registering.

MSc Dissertations (Campus based or distance learning)
A 60 credit module which offers students the opportunity to synthesise new and existing knowledge to generate ideas and develop creative solutions to the benefit of society, within a small-scale research project within their chosen field.

BSc Dissertations (Campus based or distance learning)
